The hotel is located on the Chiantigiana, the wine route between Florence and Siena. Its various buildings reflect all the characteristics of Tuscan architecture: thick exterior walls, tiled roofs, strong wooden frames, brick or granite stone window frames, magnificent stone porticoes and airy courtyards.
One of the four houses, once the summer residence of the Bishops of Siena, is a listed Italian historic monument. The church that backs onto it, Santa Maria Novella, is one of the most important examples of Romanesque architecture in Florence and dates back to the tenth century.
The property has been renovated while preserving its traditional layout and decorative features, including frescoes dating back to the 16th century. Its 22 spacious rooms and suites spreaded in three buildings, all offer breathtaking views over the Sienese countryside. Just 30 minutes from Siena, 45 minutes from the Val d'Orcia and 50 minutes from Florence, Pieve Aldina is the ideal place for exploring Tuscany and discovering its exceptional history.
As in the paintings of the Italian Renaissance, where the landscape is contemplated through a window, the hotel offers extraordinary views of the Tuscan countryside from every window. These landscapes are now listed in the same way as historic buildings, as they retain much of the layout and aesthetics that have been fixed for centuries.
Exceptional architectural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, promotion of local products: Pieve Aldina holds the promise of a journey to the heart of ancient Tuscany.
